Gavin Lucas and Mariska Kempers could not be more different. One a father and runner with limited experience looking to push his own boundaries, the other a seasoned runner looking to set a good example for her young daughter. Although from different backgrounds, all it took was the words on one person to inspire them to embark on the biggest challenge of their life – the 250km Sahara Desert Race that took place from October 2 to 8.
It hasn’t been an easy journey. Chronicling their training and challenges in our Get Inspired blog, they have cited time, commitments and responsibilities as hurdles to getting their training on track. But they have learnt one thing – we can all achieve far more than we could ever imagine. And it only takes a little bit of dedication to unlock that hidden potential within us.
So this is what we want to know. How are you going to discover your potential? It may not be running a marathon, but it could be doing something as simple as learning to cook, taking piano lessons or starting to meditate. With just three months to go until 2011 ends, it couldn’t be a better time to reconnect with resolutions set out at the beginning of the year. After all, it is better to start somewhere rather than never give it a shot.
Join us on the journey and help us all discover our potential. We look forward to hearing from you!
